Some of the things I've learnt along the way
Design for purpose, not attention
Desire to solve interesting problems is true north
Life punishes the vague wish and rewards the specific task
Start with gut, validate with users, iterate then ship
Be Bold. Be Real. Be Curious. Be Fast.
A good question is half way to the solution
Learning is a teamsport
You don’t learn by talking, learning happens while listening
Its easy to notice if people care about what they’re doing
Strong opinions loosely held
Be happy to be proven wrong
Always give a shit
Never be an asshole
Fight for the projects success, (with anyone)
Don’t create a sense of urgency, create a sense of purpose
Avoid making what you love to do being reduced to 'just' a career
Friction causes a spark
Always benefit the room, not drain it
Sometimes it takes a bulldozer to level the playing field
Reframe failure into learnings
Always deliver
Always make a decision
Always ask people what they want
Always fight for you team
Always be yourself, you're the best qualified
Chaos is an opportunity for growth
Comfort and progress rarely go hand in hand
Great teams build great products
Don’t try to solve everything, or you’ll end up with nothing
Be stubborn on the vision, but flexible on the details
If you're not making mistakes, you're not making anything
Don’t take flattery or criticism too seriously
You always know less and more than you think
Start from a place of truth
A bad attitude is the only true handicap
Strive for culture add, not just fit
